  1. To call the minimum amount required in the first round of betting in order to establish or maintain a stake in the pot; to call the blind or the bring in without raising.
  2. To enter a pot by simply calling the bet instead of raising. Example: a player with a marginal hand may be willing to pay the minimum to see more cards, but would likely fold if the bet increased further.
